Delete Your Account

You can delete your Mapenzi account and personal data at any time. This page explains how, and exactly what happens to your data.

1. Delete from inside the app (recommended)

• Open the Mapenzi app and sign in.
• Go to Settings.
• Scroll to the bottom and tap Delete Account.
• Confirm. Your account and profile are removed immediately.

2. Request deletion without the app

If you can no longer sign in, email hello@mapenziapp.com from the email address on your account, with the subject "Delete my account". We verify ownership and complete the deletion within 30 days.

3. What is deleted

• Your profile: name, photos, biography, interests, preferences.
• Your account details: email, phone number, date of birth, gender.
• Your activity: matches, likes, messages, voice notes, and date invitations.
• Verification selfies and device identifiers linked to your account.

4. What is retained, and for how long

A limited set of records is kept only where the law requires it or to prevent fraud and abuse:

• Transaction records (coin purchases via the App Store, Google Play, or mobile money) are retained in anonymized form for the period required by tax and financial-record law. These are not linked to a usable profile after deletion.
• Safety records: if your account was reported or banned for abuse, a minimal record may be kept to enforce our Terms and protect other users.

5. Timeline

In-app deletion removes your profile immediately. Full removal from backups completes within 30 days.
